Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of removing dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills or staining) in one go without having to swap out devices. They can also help save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot must have impressive navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks and machine-wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've tested. Unpacking is simple and the quick-start guide gets you up and running in no time. It comes with an entire dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops are spun at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a range of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly app that lets you select the kind of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
You can, for example, ask the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models cannot. The only issue it has is that it tends to smash into walls and other objects at a high speed, but a quick glance at the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading, and which obstacles it's avoided.
A handy LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance tasks are required, such as emptying the debris tray and rinsing its dirty water tank. It also mixes detergent into the tank by itself, using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being able to operate for 184 minutes in Quiet mode and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode before needing to recharge or return to the base to replenish. The app is simple to use and intuitive that lets you look at every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. The model this year has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This increases the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to pick up small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners might overlook.
Like the two other Roborock models I've tested, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things a step further by having a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they're a wall or another type of surface. It can then change its direction automatically and clean around the objects, without missing a step.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek angular design is eye catching, and it only has three physical buttons. The power button, which restarts the cleaning process mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock and a home button to bring the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin fills up automatically.
The only downside I found with this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. It is possible to change the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to take the mount off for manual washing. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener system on the mounts, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app lets you manage and set up these features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor battery life and component maintenance. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops to allow voice control with this model, which is a shame considering the quality of its performance.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with exceptional suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its intelligent design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while also saving time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to feature 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful choices available. This powerful vacuum removes dry mess, including pet hair and crumbs. It has a mop of top quality that cleans hard floors without the use of pads. The X40 is also very quiet while in use with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.
Another noteworthy feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush which allows it to get into difficult-to-access corners and clean furniture, such as tables and chairs' legs. It also lets the robot to get under low-profile furniture making it an ideal option for apartments or condos with tight spaces. The side brush automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots, which is a nice addition that helps the X40 avoid damaging floors with repeated back-andforth movements.
In contrast to other robots that solely focus on one task, the X40 can perform mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or in a series. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and skip carpeted areas, or reverse the process. It can be controlled using the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.
The app is simple and easy to use, and the X40's smart features are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times. It is also possible to alter suction power, alter modes, look at maps and floor plans, and control mopping settings. The X40 will also monitor its progress, and alert you when it's done.

This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also vacuum up pet hair, small dirt particles and remove spills and soiled spots.
The mops are cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is beneficial because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from building up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home cleaner longer.

The mopping system is well-designed, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. They can even extend up to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice addition.
